Biden made the right choice to shoot it down. A balloon is a good way to disperse pathogens and other harmful biologicals.
2,000lb payload is an interesting detail. How much does a warhead weigh? Testing so called civilian balloons as a non detectable launch ICBM alternative for nuclear first strike delivery is cleaver if that’s what they are doing. You never really know with deceptive authoritarian leadership.

I think Andrea Mitchell meant: The last time U.S. shot down an enemy aircraft over U.S. territory was Pearl Harbor during WWII.
Wouldn't it have been better to analyze it in one piece rather than hundreds of pieces which could have been done if they would have just punctured the balloon with small holes and let it descend slowly instead of hitting the payload with a missile. And it should have been done in Alaska where they have over 600,000 square miles to do their business. They want us to believe they can put a man on the moon with a rocket but they can't lower a balloon in one piece.

Hey Andrea Mitchell, About 150 air-to-air shoot downs occured in Vietnahm. Serveral pilots were given ACE awards. This balloon is NOT the first shoot down since Pearl Harbor.
