Some experts say the war in Ukraine won’t be won on the battlefield. Here’s what that means.

Western officials said a surge in troops and firepower was underway in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia province, and Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged Thursday that “hostilities have intensified significantly.” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, asked this week about the progress Ukraine has made, stressed that “it’s not a stalemate. They’re not just frozen. The Ukrainians are moving.”
Some experts, however, say a stalemate is the most likely scenario.

Russia has to leave Ukraine that's the end of the conflict
It was STARTED by people in suits. Of course it can be ended by people in suites!
How is it a stalemate? Russia's objective is to maintain the majority of the territory they maintain now. This is the greater Donbass Oblast and it seems it might include Odessa. Ukraines objective is to kill or remove 100% of all the russians. Since there are and have been several hundred thousand Russians in ukrains since 2/24/2022 i believe Ukraine is kind of weak, ineffective, failing and not really worth investing in (not giving hundreds of billions and soon trillions of dollars)
Ukraine is winning the war , the amounts of artillery pieces Russia in losing is not sustainable, they are losing equipment way faster than they can replace.
The media can't help itself. It's as misleading as advertising. In fact, it is advertising. Western Pravda. Ukraine has retaken half of the land Russia occupied? Technically, maybe, if you assume that strategic withdrawals and redeployments qualify as "retaken." Or attacking weakly held area where the enemy decides to retreat to fight another day. Anyone who's following this closely knows that the front lines have remained static for quite a while. And all the time the side with the smaller population has been bludgeoned by artillery and has had to feed cannon fodder to maintain their lines. Meanwhile the bigger country is on a war footing, while the West has run out of ammunition. And the sanctions have failed, while Ukraine has become an economic basket case and international beggar.
It's a sign of desperation and lack of character when you boast about nonsense, manipulate the truth, and engage in gratuitous remarks – name-calling – and gratuitous actions – refusing to shake hands, trying to ban long dead composers, change the date of Christmas. It's pathetic. It's dishonorable and a sign of weakness.
All of these idiotic experts that you're referring to, probably just need to spend more time playing their video games. Ukraine is advancing almost everywhere on the battlefield. Ukraine has fighting spirit that will not falter. Munitions are coming faster and in greater volume.
Russian morale is extremely brittle and Russian support for the war will break after Ukraine makes a few sizable gains. Ukraine definitely has an advantage on being able to out suffer Russia. Ukraine will never give up.
There is nothing to "sort" out. Either it's ok to invade your neighbor, or its not.
And remember this Vietnam kicked China a*s outta their land when invaded!!!

Baloney. Every time Ukraine takes back 2 square kilometers, they can't hold it. The Russians locate the Ukraine positions and absolutely demolish them with artillery. It is a slaughter. The Ukrainians are suffering 10 dead for every dead Russian. It's all over but the gnashing of teeth — and the weeping. In Washington there will soon be panic. US pols have been lying about the war since the start. Americans must face the brutal truth: our so called leaders are psychopathic liars and warmongers.
Baloney. Expects are fighting the imagined soviet army of 198O. Like a monster under the bed in the dark. Most Western aid has not even reached the front, although 95% of Russian combat forces are there—dying in trenches with strangled supply lines. Cluster bombs will finish them and help breach Russian minefields. Die or surrender.
In my opinion, the only way the Russia-Ukraine conflict can be ended with a "Win-win" for all parties involved, including the EU, is through the following steps:
Russia should return all occupied territories to Ukraine and provide a guarantee that Ukraine will remain neutral, free from interference by Russia, the US, or NATO.
The Black and Baltic Seas should remain open to Russia for navigation and trade.
The withdrawal of all US troops from European soil should occur but with a provision for continued military exercises based on rotational arrangements and still part of NATO.
All Russian sanctions should be lifted as part of the resolution process.
The EU should be granted control over all nuclear power plants in Ukraine, without exceptions, to ensure safety and adherence to international standards.
Russia should maintain a joint seat with NATO at headquarters to facilitate ongoing communication and cooperation.
Both Russia and the US should commit to continued reduction efforts in the nuclear arms race.
Russia should continue its energy supply to Europe to maintain stability in the region.
The EU and Russia should foster a strong culture exchange program to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.
Russia and the US should establish a robust military understanding and engage in joint exercises to build trust and reduce tensions.
The EU, the US, and Russia should collaborate to enforce a strong environmental Pact to address shared environmental challenges.
By implementing these measures, all parties can work towards a resolution that benefits everyone involved, promoting peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and beyond.
Laughable. The only expert we're seeing in this clip is a journalist. Journalists have said things like: "We cant tell if they'll invade." "They'll have Kyiv in three days." "This is a redo of the 1st World War." "Bombing civilian infrastructure has no military significance." "Bakhmut has no military significance." … and so on. The Russians have taken most of Ukraine's oil and gas resources and that alone is something neither side will give up without a fight. Given Burisma's involvement with Crimea and Soviet leaning Oligarchs I can see why some in our current power/media structure might prefer to negotiate away Crimea and leave that stone unturned, but the Ukrainians have said that's not on the table. I can see why. And the Ukrainians remember life under Russians. In occupied territories, after a year and a half, the Russians are running into a lot of obstacles russifying the population. Some obvious, some not. Admittedly, this war does not progress at the speed of journalism, but the speed of journalism is not relevant to the real world.
Might not matter. Russia could win today, but the economic avalanche is still going to crush them. In 30 years or so, Russia will likely be broken up into smaller countries. Which creates it's own problem… who gets the nukes?
There isn't room for a compromise where Ukraine gets its territory cut.

How is this guy an expert? If Biden gives Ukraine all the weapons Zelensky asked for, Ukraine wins. If Biden abandons Ukraine liked he did Afghanintan, Ukraine will lose. The stalemate is by design. Biden's afraid of Putin's nuclear extortion if Ukraine wins. He also thinks he'll lose reelection if Ukraine loses.

The problem with the offensive by Ukraine has been the blowing of the dam, and flooding southern Ukraine. This has been Russia's only positive strategic move, as it meant the offensive had to be in the northern portion of Russian held Ukraine. Tanks cannot slog it through a swamp. But the big development about the war, is how something as small as a drone can prove effective in combat. A new nemesis for tanks and other military vehicles. Not a stalemate. This war is being fought on many fronts. Military, economic and political.
Ukraine is winning on the military and economic front but Russia is winning the propaganda war with its people.
Ultimately the longer this war drags on the better it will be for Ukraine as Russia will become so weak and its people so dellusioned that it will have to give up.
This will be the best outcome for the future although it may take time, which is something Russia does not have.
Why isn't Ukraine digging in, building trench defenses like Russia. You don't leave your castle to attack a superior foe. Air superiority decides battles. Russia owns the skies….game over. Peace talks were stopped by Biden last March. Now following the destruction and decimation of Ukraine. A worst deal will be forced upon Ukraine.
