A graduate student at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill was charged with first-degree murder after the fatal shooting of a university professor. NBC News’ Dana Griffin reports on the possible relationship between the suspect and the victim, Zijie Yan, an associate professor in the applied sciences department.

I seem that this student had mental illness problems and his Advisor was " hopeful that that student would be able to keep it all together and finish school".
Unfortunately, you cannot wish people out of mental illness.
You need to take action and provide mental health treatment.
It's very sad that faculty are not educated about this and also student are isolated and have nowhere to go.

pray to God, this was not staged. I’ve seen Asian politicians fight each other in court or over a ping pong match or at the poker table 🙂 not this. My conscience telling me otherwise. He’s quiet b/c he’s studying for his PhD, new to the country and speak very English. Nothing wrong or not normal with that. In any academic environment, you'll hear that if you want mistreat a Chinese in your lab, just hire another low-paid Chinese, these 2 Chinese would fight over a bone, so you could gain the most.
