The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for the return of four Americans believed to have been kidnapped at gunpoint in Mexico after crossing into Matamoros, Tamaulipas. I'm not sure the story we're hearing is as 'simple' as it's being relayed. A case of 'mistaken identity? We unfortunately may not ever know even if they're found.
I can't fathom what drugs or 'medicines' were worth obtaining over the border to risk your lives in the process.
Our healthcare and prescription drug system is so unaffordable that people have to travel to Mexico to get treatment/medicine. Sad.

I live 20 minutes from Matamoros and I would not take chance crossing the border. Cartel members see license plates from the US and that automatically makes you a target. They seem to think that one has money just because you’re from this side of the border. These Americans likely went across the border to get medication for cheap, go to dentist, or eat delicious street tacos. Hope they’re found safe. Hopefully this isn’t another case like Mark Kilroy.
“Exchange of gunfire” implies they were able to fight back. They weren’t. Two were killed immediately, then they were all dragged out and thrown in the bed of a truck.
