Your comments showed your ignorance. If none of you had ever visited or been to China, I highly recommend that you do. The more I hear these negative comments, the more disgusting one feels. That’s because most of our journalists have no knowledge of either China or Asian cultures and mentality.
President Xi has been quite transparent with Biden during their negotiations. As far as the venue is concerned, the optics was mutually agreed upon. Many of our politicians and journalists are really talking rubbish. Their true or deliberate ignorance of diplomatic etiquette is appalling. Their comments are simply unqualified and utterly terrible!
I’m an American who has lived and worked in multiple cities in China over 15* years. When I first arrived as a student in 2004, Beijing had many villages like Singapore where I grew up. Within a decade all villages were gone and high rise better quality housing, infrastructure were built & greatly improved. When I was there there were 3 subway lines. When I left a decade for southern China, there are 23 subway lines. High speed rail are built all over China, better than Japan & Europe where I too have lived. Everything is clean and things are managed better and better. The lives of people have greatly improved. Chinese people are hardworking and willing to make much sacrifices to bring advancement within their countries. Education is highly encouraged.
Under President Xi, I saw the continual crackdown of corruptions. They were reduced. Gov officials are always held at a higher standard than ordinary people. If one is found to be corrupt or even have an inkling of any extra marital affairs, they are finished and jailed!! Poverty are greatly reduced.
China is divided into Tier 1 to Tier 5 cities. By the time I left last year, China has begun developing and improving Tier 4 cities. The speed and determination of President Xi’s gov to improve the total country is simply amazing.
The US has a high level of corruptions too. Our infrastructure is so outdated. Yet where are all monies from the Infrastructure bill to retrofit them? We are anti free trade, anti Global harmony. We always want to be no 1. Read all of President Xi’s APEC speeches. You will find it contains much info about respect, cooperation and mutual benefits. It is us, our gov who says one thing and do another. No one likes to be back stabbed again and again and again. President Xi left open the choice we want to make. The kind of relationship one wants between countries, between companies, between individuals is a 2 way street. Both parties MUST CONTRIBUTE to make it work, just like a good marriage. However if one bullies or take advantage of the other, it’s not going to turn out well is it?
China is now a capitalist-communist country. It is not a dictatorship. We have our Congress of 541 and they have their National People Congress of 2980. The difference between our system and China is that The People and The Country comes first. In ours, the politicians and their financial supporters come first. Too much infighting and bickering, our crime rates and homelessness have gone up while in China it’s almost nil.
Why label others in unfavorable titles and still go to China to talk peace and cooperation. Why all the hypocrisy?
