Look, I'm not one of those who throws caution to the wind and has embraced knee-jerk responses as being safe or logical so…do not read into my response a cowboy mentality. That said, I cannot help but identify the very one singular and necessary ingredient currently (and for campaigns dating back to the Korean war) missing from our foriegn diplomacy script that WAS years ago in fact part of ANY conflict for which we (the west) were successful in our endeavor to end it. It's simply referred to as "total war". A "toes in the water" to read the heat of the waters temperature before committing to a resolution was adopted during the "cold war" a new and limited strategy given the atomic age but, it HAS NOT proven itself EVER since it's inception to be effective. If we genuinely wish for the houthis /iran or WHOMEVER chooses to challenge the moral compass of right and wrong through bullying those of reason into capitulating, we need to acknowledge their WILLINGNESS to do so and respond with not measured but, AT LEAST an equal willingness to deter it. If that takes a five day round the clock campaign to knock them off their horse, than so be it but, do not penny-ante us into an upstaged conflict by milquetoasting your way into a full-blown conflict. State your willingness with authority at THE OUTSET so there can be NO illusions as to our resolve nor our capability to execute as this game is a game of esclation for which WE GENUINELY ARE TRYING TO AVOID but with the incorrect strategy.
