Utah parents protest Bible removal from schools

Dozens of parents gathered at the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City to protest the school district’s decision to remove the King James version of the Bible from elementary and middle school libraries. The move comes after an anonymous complaint urged the district to ban the book because it contained “pornographic” material. NBC News’ Ellison Barber reports.

  1. Conservative parents ban books because of

"2 dads, single parent, Black & Brown children in 1950, interracial parents, Martin Luther King, segregation"

These are not pornographic. Parents must be educated with American history.

  2. HAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA amazing

  3. They purposely put explicit materials in schools so people would protest its removal, setting a precedent to remove the Bible and all religious material. John lennons dream come true…which is why they played Imagine during the NYE ball drop. It's all going according to plan.

  4. Our founding fathers decided a very long time ago, Bibles should not be in schools, particularly when a deviant who SA his daughters is celebrated while the minor children are blamed for his sick actions. Disgusting! What is wrong with these people?!?

  5. Lol!!!! The Bible is a horrific nasty book. It should not be in public schools. It’s hilarious that the religious whackos that try to ban books for their own prejudices and nonsensical beliefs are now getting the same in return. No book should be banned to high school and college aged readers. Books for the younger grades should be age appropriate. The Bible is certainly NOT age appropriate. Anyone who actually reads it, should be against the misogyny, racism and cruelty (who murders thousands of babies? God apparently), of Christianity’s archaic myths. Most Christian’s only read the “nice bits” and have no idea how evil the rest of it is.

  6. School is for education, not religion.

  7. Remove the bibles from the schools, then you can have unfettered access to children's minds and bodies. What a shame, and what a victory for the powers of darkness!

  8. Oh, Jesus Christ (pun intended)… NO KID under the age of 14 is going to read it anyway. It's boring.
Kids have no attention span anymore with all the apps they have on their phones. Do you seriously think that even if they TRY to read it, they will get past the 4th book of the bible? Numbers is BOOORING!!

  9. I mean let's be real, what kid is going to be reading the bible in school anyways? Sure, if you want your kid to read it at home, you're free to do so, but we all know no kid is gonna pick it up themself at that age

  10. The Bible (AKA the book of fairy tales) should have been banned years ago.

  11. This is what people don't know abt American schools:

    It's always abt money, Judas.

Books are actually installed in the schools by the ivy league legislature.

The ivy legislature selects all the curriculum materials used in schools.

My former state is a red state & the red run ivy league legislature selected all the educational software, content area books, text books, trade books, supplemental materials, learning programs, & APPs.

So, if the red state ivy league legislators selected all these materials for decades, why suddenly are they removing their own handy work?

During the pandemic shutdown people had time on their hands to examine America's financial portfolio.

    What they found was…

    (1) The lottery they voted in to fund edu & reduce property taxes, which are 87% of peoples property taxes, isn't reaching education at all.

My former red state md $40B in $Lottery over 20 yrs but gave edu $1B, that's <2%.

It was said winners got 48%. So, where did the other 50% or $20B go?

Well, the $20B went to the ivy league legislative administration to run the lottery, which is largely vending machines & we know who still runs that industry, & special projects redirected funds.

It reminds me of a famous historical docu-movie line…

"In 5 yrs the C family will be legit. Then, it will be Senator C & Presidents C.

So examine who was in charge for the past 4 decades, on a large scale.

    (2) People also began giving attn to corp welfare called taxpayer TARP money gifted to ivy league run corp…

Ivy league run banks, investment, insurance, pharma, retail, developers, …

But when it came to bailing out the American Taxpayers, there money was too good for them, i.e., mortgage relief to reduce working family homelessness, student loan forgiveness & stimulus checks.

$Trillions in TARP taxpayer money was given to a single ivy league banking entity.

This amount was enough to pay off all outstanding student loan debt for the entire country, but 1-bank got trillions in taxpayer 💵.

All this to say, the book propaganda & grooming propaganda is designed to distract.

For why else wd they turn on their own 4-decade design?

  12. Lot's Daughters in the bible. His daughter's gets him drunk then rapes him. Chapter 19, the book Genesis.

  13. Just like the sins in the Bible they pick and choose to care about that is convenient for them, they want to pick and choose which books to hold to the law they passed.

  14. They did it to themselves!!

  15. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  16. The republican law is the republican law.

  17. The church religion and its books has no protections in public and around children. Unless, they begin to teach the readers how to read the Bible in its original languages.

  18. Jesus loves all of you that’s all I gotta say

  19. Whats good for the goose……😂😂😂 Trump for prison 2024,2025…2050! #Trump2small

  20. YOU PEOPLE HAVE BETTER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT LIKE CHILD MOLE….STING WARDS , PREACHERS & TAX EVADERS ,

  21. Hahahahaha Conservatives never thought their rules would apply to them!!!!!

  22. Eh, live by the sword, die by the sword.

  23. Awe, they don't like it. How cute.

  24. What goes around comes around! Why don’t we just remove all books from schools? Then we can offer free lobotomies for students and their parents as there isn’t anything within the cranium worth saving.

  25. Lol Too Bad! The Bible isn’t off limits!!!!

  26. Hey Mormons, I suggest you repeal the law that banned the Bible. Just a thought.

I'm sure there are Christian activists from out of state descending on Utah because who won't take advantage of a good scandal. But seriously, folks, this is why your congregations are shrinking. Young people have had enough of the grandstanding and the manufactured outrage.

  27. oops….didn't read the fine print in the law or the Bible for that matter

  28. Best selling book, to Christians, literally no one else buys it and they buy 50 pet person because they are mentally ill.

  29. Right now I am the happiest atheist alive. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  30. You Maga people are so crazy these days

  31. Seperation of church and state. Its pretty clear.

  32. No. Send them to Bible school if you want. They also probably have them at home so why should they be in the library.

  33. Of all the books they don't want banned…

  34. "Let me come in the children." – Catholic priests, Mormans, religious leaders everywhere 34:69

  35. Good that they are being fair across the board.

  36. Only a theocrat would be upset about this. Every freedom loving person knows religion should be taught at home or in places of worship.

  37. They made the rules, but don't want to follow the rules.
