The jury has reached a verdict in the lawsuit filed by Vanessa Bryant over photos taken at the crash site where her husband, NBA legend Kobe Bryant, and daughter Gigi were killed. The jury awarded Bryant $16 million and co-plaintiff Christopher Chester $15 million. NBC News’ Steve Patterson reports the latest details.

Kudos to the jury. Vanessa did this to send a message. If the government or its agents violate the privacy rights of survivors by publishing grisley death photos, the tax payers will underwrite huge jury awards to the victims and properly so.
She and anyone else in the situation who won or settled deserves every last penny. This is not just about the money but it sets precedent and exposes another area where public servants and enforcement agents need to raise their standards. LA County really needs to do better, I'm glad they got exposed. And if you're complaining about the dollar amount, just look at the president bottomless pockets, this nation prints money like he grows on trees because we can.
