NBC News investigates a 2017 New Mexico school shooting the victim’s family says could have been stopped. The gunman left a trail of hatred online long before he shot and killed two students, and then took his own life. A year before the shooting, he sent a threat causing two FBI agents to question him at his home, where he convinced them it was a sick joke.

Learn to read warning signs and communicate between involved parties. FBI, police, schools, parents, friends all need to be able to easily communicate such threats and concerning behaviour. In so many cases someone had noticed warning signs but not communicated those or, even worse, was ignored when trying to. This goes all the way back to Columbine. To many mistakes that end fatal.
As a person that was there, I ask that you please just lay this to rest. Some of us are barely getting back to a sense of normalcy. I personally don’t think there was absolutely anything that anyone could have done. Please just lay it to rest.

Americans love death. They should throw a parade every time there is a mass shooting or a school shooting. They clearly love them since they do absolutely nothing to prevent them happening.

This kid wanted help. He disconnected because his parents completely failed him and should be held responsible.
They couldn't have done anything to that kid, the FBI that is.
The guy was going to do what he was going to do.
This and other things we classify as "problems" like homelessness, poverty, corruption, etc.
All of it are signs of a broken system.
If it wasn't that kid shooting a school, it would eventually be some other kid that looks different but doing the same thing.
We keep examining these kids like they are the problem.
They are but a symptom of a system that is sick.

The FBI had complaints about him, they had his disturbing social media posts, they previously interviewed the kid, and did absolutely nothing to prevent the sh00thing. They still take no responsibility for what happened; but if it was YOUR kid and YOU did nothing to stop it, you’re going on trial.
More cops on HS grounds please, 1 isn't enough. You have to be able to identify potential intruders in real time these days.

If you followed every warning sign, you'd have a good 10%, plus of the population under surveillance, by the rest of the population. Oh wait, there's already cameras everywhere, and people are becoming more paranoid…the circle of modern life!
The system keeps blaming guns, video gaming, and music. But it's honestly the parents fault! As a parent you need to be all up in your kids business. They are not your friends they are your kids and your responsibility. Raise them to be sympathetic, strong and sociable. Take your accountability seriously and leve my fkn gun rights alone
What do they do if they think someone is messed up?
No regular citizens should ever lose the Right to Bear Arms, but someone who has made credible threats online or elsewhere about mass shootings should have their ability to own a gun suspended for a long period, such as 10 years, at which time their behavior can be revisited…….anyone who lives with them should be told they will be prosecuted if he gains access to their firearms. 5 year prison sentence for them, if he does.
