More than two years after the Oxford High School massacre, a historic trial begins this week for Jennifer and James Crumbley, as prosecutors seek to do what has never been done before: hold parents criminally responsible for a deadly mass school shooting.
After months of legal feuding and mudslinging by lawyers, it will finally be up to a jury to decide this unprecedented and significant issue. Legal experts stress that the first critical task at hand, jury selection, could ultimately decide the case.

In her first meeting with detectives, that included her son and her husband right after the shooting, she looked attractive. Sharply dressed and her hair was beautiful. Now she looks like the guy who would fix your flat at the truck stop. Jail life will do that to a person.

This defense attorney is absolutely amazing. This lady Jennifer crumbley may be a bad mom but she doesn't deserve to go to prison for what her son did. Now the father on the other hand that may be a different story. One things for sure is this defense attorney is stellar. I've watched many and many of trials and this lady is damn good.

This is such a circus. I’ve never seen a judge allow lawyers to behave this way or one that allows lawyers to speak to her that way. I can’t focus on the case as there’s so much chaos.

I see there's been a lot of criticism of the Defense Attorney, Shannon Smith, but I can't help liking her. Maybe because I'm sort of methodical and analytical myself. She kind of reminds me of a female Colombo 😊. I do wish she would ask more direct questions though. She's get somewhere with her method and Prosecution does not like it. Not defending her case, just enjoying the courtroom drama.

Defence already won a ruling to keep the affair out of the courtroom. But now she's throwing that win away…for what? It's almost like she didn't realize her witness questions about pressure from the cops would open the door for the prosecutor to question the witness about the REAL reason he lied to cops (ie the affair).
And ultimately, when she asks the witness at 5:45:07 – 5:45:20 whether he was scared he'd lose his job or benefits, he says NO! She is an experienced defence lawyer, so what was the point of that whole line of questioning that cost her her earlier victory about the affair?
Shannon Smith is not doing her client any favors. Very scatter brained and unprofessional.
This is a train wreck….Jennifer's attorney took a huge gamble with what she had already won in excluding certain testimony and evidence twice now. And it doesn't seem to have helped but the jury can always go either way.
The State's case is solid. The defense is all over the place. The State is methodical. Again, the jury can go either way.
