Watch: Moment Australian sailor and his dog are rescued after months adrift

Video shows the moment Australian sailor Tim Shaddock and his dog Bella were rescued by the crew of a Mexican tuna fishing boat after spending three months adrift in the Pacific Ocean. Shaddock set sail from the Mexican city of La Paz in April but a storm knocked out his electronics and ability to cook weeks into his voyage.

  1. Oh they were both so happy

  2. The dog couldn’t wait to get off that boat.

  3. Why was he is Mexico? LOL

  4. It's like that movie Life Of Pie. Good flick btw.

  5. someone should have immediately handed him and his dog some clean water??

  6. The dog is healthy wow surprising

  7. If I had to be stranded, I would want to be stranded with my dog.

  8. This guy is really lucky and God indeed have saved him. The fact that he was even able to managed to live for 2 months surviving on raw fish and rainwater along with his dog is one extreme test of survival!

  9. Where is the rest of video?

  10. How did he not run out of fresh water?

  11. Gosh, I was just saying how lucky I would feel if I won the PowerBall.

  12. His poor eyes were just burnt from the sun and water. He took care of his dog so well.

  13. Those dogs in Lapaz are known for being friendly and happy. I lived there. He rescied that doggo there. 😭

  14. For people complaining about all the questions:
-The helicopter that first spotted him threw him some water and supplies and latter returned with the rescue boat.
-He was obviously in a lucid state and able to answer questions so his condition wasn’t critical.
    – You don’t know this man, yes he’s obviously in a life threatening situation but you don’t know what’s in that boat or his mental state or if he is a wanted criminal and law enforcement should be notified. Cartels often move through int waters close to the pacific
-He got immediate medical attention after he boarded

  15. They acted like this feeble weak stranded man was high value threat 😂 glad he is safe and sound now

  16. NOT prepared at all!
100's of sailboats make the passage to the Marquesas Islands from either Mexico or Panama every year. This guy was not prepared for this long voyage. It is one of the longest that any sailboat will ever take.

  17. This is a sailboat, why is he not sailing? No electronics, no compass ok but you can still sail. Seems a little suspicious.

  18. Aww the Mexican crew are saviors. Thank goodness for them.

  19. And he didn’t even eat the dog?

  20. That's harassment – not a rescue.

  21. Funny how paranoid they are about him having weapons yet he completely trust them, when really he shouldn't.

  22. Weird rescue moment……..,…

  23. An EPIRB costs about $650, and it has a 48 hour battery that sends a rescue signal to satellites in the sky. It floats and all you need is a clear line of sight to the sky. Sure, that's a lot of money for some people. But if you own a catamaran, which probably cost a decent chunk of change, it's a small price to add onto the boat. This guy decided a radio was all he needed, until it got knocked out by a storm. A solar panel to charge the batteries as well.

  24. Eprib and satellite phone should be a requirement of anybody going into the ocean. It’s just common sense. They both work anywhere in the world.

  25. Sad and amazing at the same time ❤

  26. Glad he didn't eat the dog or the dog didn't eat him ………. What you know you think it to 😂

  27. I don't understand? In another video he said he had a Garmin inreach and was in touch with his family daily. Is there something I'm missing? Did he not want to call for help? It looks like he is sailing a wharam design catamaran.

  28. GIMMY, A, HAMBERGER…

  29. This is one guy who truely deserves a GOFUNDME page

  30. Look at that cute little doggie; he woul dbe happy either way

  31. On one hand its like "Just rescue the guy, ask 1000 questions later… But then you think about the world we live in for just 2 seconds and your like yup, surprised they didn't have a metal detector wand and then do a cavity search as well, JUST to be safe."

  32. Why are they treating him like a potential criminal? Asking all those stupid questions.
Get him to a safe place, then you can ask those dumb questions

  33. Departed from Mexico?

  34. Not sure about this. He gave Bella away after saying her companionship helped him survive? Bella looked well fed to me.

  35. This guy is a P.O.S. Don't make him out to be some AMAZING Man. After being out to sea with the companionship of Bella, he no longer wants her and is giving her up for someone to adopt. I can't believe this guy's thinking.

  36. Wonderful Saved !!!

  37. So happy to hear that him and his dog have been rescued and they are both now safe. I can't even imagine being stuck out at sea, thank God he had his beloved dog for company.

  38. God bless thst man and his 🐶

  39. Fortune looked over this man and his doggie. Good fortune it was!

  40. He must have had the best tacos ever after being on the ocean without any proper food.

  41. I was hoping his dog's name was "Wilson".

  42. what if he had some weed left would they have sent him straight to jail in handcuffs?
