A broken water system in Jackson, Mississippi following catastrophic flooding has left the city in a crisis. For weeks residents have been under a boil water notice because of contaminated water concerns, and now they’re on the brink of no water at all. The state is now preparing for the colossal challenge of distributing water to 180,000 people in Jackson and to surrounding areas.

I moved to a small city just outside of Jackson 3 days ago, and I already know that privatizing a basic need like water and the systemic racism in this state is what caused this problem. This “band aid” approach the people in charge are taking is just that, a patch, on a much bigger problem that is not being addressed.
I am formulating my exit plan from this state every chance I get…

They been knew this for decades! It was the infrastructure that needed to be updated n restructured. Please people each and every state, city KNOW the issues about their water facilities. No officials over there gave me any hope of doing anything right. No nothing was solved, and word is he's done it afew times since then. When you don't do your job correctly this is the outcome. Alabama was in the same fix over prisons, this Governor spent the people's covid relief funds on prisons that needed fixing 10 elections ago. What did the Mississippi Governor spend there's on?

there's like 15 billion gallons of bottled water sold in usa so far, not counting stock, i'm unsure, first, why some of that can't make it there, and second, how they haven't sucked it up, gone in to debt and fixed their broken water center yet.

Oh I thought the water emergency was because of too much water with flooding. I didn’t realize they can’t get water. Humans will die after 3 days without water. I hope all of you in Mississippi are safe.
There’s no excuse for this. This is poor management from the Mayor and the Governor. This is not the first time water has been scarce. It’s not the fault of the flooding although it does add to the problem. The city has bad pipes and for years this has been happening regularly. Something has to be done to fix this. For God’s sake we’re not living in the 1800’s. I’m not in Jackson proper but this affects so many people it sickens me. Hire more people and fix this. Jackson is not in a Third World country it is the. State Capitol. Get off your butts and FIX IT.

Use your head. Travel to existing states instead of wasting time sitting in long lines of cars waiting on a case of water all day. Doesn't take that long to go next door, purchase water and then back home. Leave the line for people unable to travel.
