Robust jobs report? Where? Did nobody in the establishment media actually read the report? There was a net loss of full-time jobs in July. Nearly all of the net 528 000 jobs added were part-time jobs, the vast majority being low-paying service sector jobs. Since the number of people in the workforce keeps falling, these part-time jobs went to people who already had at least one other place of employment.
Yes Chuck. Raising interest rates is really the only move. I am not afraid to say it. Interest rates have been too low for too long.

Companies can always let people go later on, as of now it's summer and summers have been pretty big with lots of travel and spending after that first year or so after covid. Many firms are using shrinkflation at a higher % to pass costs onto consumers hence they are able to hire more. Rising interest rates are a good thing though since a recession is inevitable and it is doubtful that inflation will correct itself fast enough.
