The Treasury needs to handle the debt ceiling and pay the bills and protect the Union's credit rating.
Will the Congresspersons that removed the regulations that allowed these mid-sized banks to hold excessive risk be sanctioned? We have to find a way to stop the legal bribes from blinding Congress to the need for proper due diligence: i.e., Bring in a panel of specialists, for example Professors and a mix of other experts, in the area under consideration (bank owners/managers are not experts under due diligence). Ofcourse the Fed needs to be cleaned up too; but that is a different conversation.
