The whole thing was a ploy to influence voters, nothing more.

Here is my personal position:
I dabbled in an online graduate program during the pandemic, borrowing $7,600 to pay for it. Because the education relates to my career field, I got a 20% tax credit on this money, totaling $1,520. I could write a check to Nelnet tomorrow to pay off my entire loan balance because I have more than enough cash available.
If the debt forgiveness goes through, I won't have to pay a dime. Plus, the government gave me another $1,520 for free that I will just pocket. I really want a new 65 inch television, and will probably buy one the moment debt forgiveness goes through.
Do I need the forgiveness? No. Am I entitled to it? No. Do I want it? Absolutely! But it won't hurt my feelings if I don't get it. These handouts are getting insane. Just giving everybody free cash is not the solution we need for the student debt crisis.
People are bit more educated now. If SCOTUS blocks it’s 100% Republican caused.

Also wasn’t it republicans that filed to the Supreme Court to try and stop the relief plan? As they said it was”unconstitutional.” Everything does seem to be “unconstitutional” or “stolen” when it doesn’t favor the party. Nobody cried about the stimulus checks that was handed out. Make sure the story is straight plz. Thanks. If Trump was still in office and did this, they would turn a blind eye; what hypocrites.
This is part of the reason there was no red wave. Republicans blocked this and pissed off the younger generation they came out in droves to support democrats. This will hurt republicans in 2024 elections also.
So, I had $33,000 in student loans at graduation. I had a 10 year pay back with a set interest rate of 6.3%. Over the course of the decade, the government banked on profiting $20,790 in INTEREST from my payments for the lifetime of that loan. Funny thing….. I ended up paying off the principal in full within the first year. By republican logic, the government "lost" over $20k in PROJECTED interest because I paid it off in full way early. How exactly do they make up for THAT money? Does THAT $20K "go the tax payer"? 🤔
