The infrastructure definitely needs to grow by a lot. I have been driving summer road trips in an EV the last two summers and on the shortest route available from Central Ca. to northern Id. runs through a rural area of Or. and Wa. and those areas lack the charging infrastructure for any EV that is not a Tesla. the past year more charging stations have been added, and this year a few more as well, but the charging infrastructure needs to hurry up and catch up sooner rather than later. There needs to be as many charging areas as gas stations already, to get more people on board. Too many rural areas ack the infrastructure. Too many people don't see the EV stations nd understand how the fast charging works. More infrastructure, education and incentives are needed to get the average driver to get on board with driving EVs.
Toyota, BMW and Rivian all are warning about moving too fast to electrification. Sure it’s the future, but you will not see EV’s surpass ICE vehicles for at least 20-30yrs. EV’s still only represent less than 1% of all vehicles on the road.
Prices, battery shortages, charge times and an outdated electrical grid will not support their goals.
Toyota’s plug-in hybrid model should be the standard until all the other issues are worked out.
You can come for our guns, but I'll be d@mned if you come for our cars. The only plausible replacement I have heard so far, given the vastness of this country, is Elon Musk's Hyperloop idea (the Boring Company). Until that infrastructure has been built, though, I and my other Americans are going to continue enjoying driving (or autopiloting) our own private vehicles. I'll be more than happy to trade in my old Toyota Camry for a shiny new Tesla, though. 😁

You want to know how I feel they are going to accomplish this?, By making gas ridiculously expensive to buy , What would you say about $20.00 a gallon?, Well you ask what about all those guys with their expensive cars , Lambos Ferrari, Bentley?, will they get rid of them?, Of course not silly, Well if you can afford those cars, you certainly can afford to buy gas for them , And what about the people who can't afford the TESLA,? You all don’t realize that the electricity that powers electric vehicles comes from coal power plants that power the grid, right? Fun fact: Electric vehicles produce more cO2 than regular combustion engines. What do you think your electric bill is going to cost when you have three or four cars charging twice a week?
Electric vehicles have nothing to do with going green. It’s just a plan to get more billionaires even richer. If climate change was real then there wouldn’t be massive pyramids in Antarctica.
Instead of climate change, why don’t we focus on producing less garbage and fewer chemicals that are petroleum based? That is actually within our realm, rather than trying to play God.
