Connecticut officials confirm a shopper died after eating cookies sold by Stew Leonard’s that did not disclose peanuts as an ingredient. WNBC’s Lynda Baquero reports.

She could have spit out the cookies to save her own life instead of eating the entire bunch. She couldn't taste the peanuts?

I’m lucky my peanut allergy is mild so I just get rashes!
As a person with various allergies including peanuts, I’m always scared of getting an allergic reaction and when I go into a store I always check the label. The fact this happened is horrific to hear and this is 100% the supermarket’s fault.

it says soy nut right on the packaging Zoom in . Nuts and nut.
This is even more reason for people to eat at home , these companies are not responsible for our health . They just want us to buy their products. If I had that type of health condition, I would not trust any company eating out .
How to know if you have peanut allergy though…

Even if it was labeled properly the Cookie Company still could have got some backlash for changing it. In certain situations the store actually does have the control over the ingredients in a vendor supplied product. For example common sweeteners in sparkling water are either sucralose (Splenda) or aspartame (NutraSweet). Polar beverages actually just lets the supermarket decide which sweetener they want to use.
Was the warning sent with a sense of importance specifically regarding a change to ingredients that could be potentially harmful to some, or did it appear to be an everyday correspondence?
Wow, the change on the recipe and notification was made in July. It actually took a very long time for someone to bite the dust or maybe someone had a light allergic reaction and didn't realize it was caused by the mislabeled cookie.

Well both there fault to be honest the factory should of changed the ingredients on the box and the store should took them off the shelf’s after they sent them that memo so regardless of the fact you can sue all day it won’t bring that young girl back they took her life by being in responsible it’s not an argument the store and factory is wrong

Easy open and shut lawsuit. Federal labeling laws mandate the declaration of any federally recognized allergens, of which peanut is one.

That looks like Stews employee mistake when repackaging and not updating the ingredients label…the cookie company showed that Stew Leonard's was notified of the changes….

Florentine cookies recipes have nuts as ingredient in all my cookbooks.
I have a severe nut allergy. I almost died from eating a cookie that was mislabeled. Have to carry an epi pen now.
