A 25-year-old woman died from an allergic reaction after eating a cookie sold by the grocery chain Stew Leonard’s that was not properly labeled as containing peanuts, officials and her attorneys said.
Stew Leonard’s issued a recall this week for its vanilla and chocolate Florentine cookies because they contain undeclared peanuts and eggs. The cause of the labeling errors remains under investigation.

Stews was very quick to blame the manufacturer
I'm so sorry beautiful….tragic…
Doesnt matter, if you changed the ingredients and label that could potentially kill someone with allergic reactions, the small writing won't help anyone. It should be highlightened on the front of any ingredients change like a large label "New Ingredients" or "New Flavour"
If you have allergies be vigilant about where you eat.
This is unfortunately sad. At such a tender age. So vibrant & full of life. SIEP my dear.
It is not uncommon, same thing killed Cookie Monster.
How are the labels printed? Did A1 or a scanner or was it a human who copied the original label to a stew leonard label. Where did the omission occur ? In transcription??? All too sad. 😢😢😢😢😢
Never heard about her..
Stew would’ve shown more compassion than his offspring have. Shame on them for tarnishing his legacy.
You can't eat everywhere when you have deadly allergies. You just can't. May she test in peace.
She was very very "kooky" indeed!
I ain't going there y'all not killing me with peanuts 😭
That was a terrible joke
🫣😭😭😭😭
Here comes the lies
When you have that severe of an allergy, the only food you eat is the food you prepare yourself.
Sad but true.
The blame game begins. Someone will pay
Seriously- this happens all the time. Oreos used to be safe to eat. Now there are peanut butter flavor cookies, hazelnut..
pizza never had to be questioned but there’s almond flour pizza. They need to STOP because this is very problematic for people with allergies. I never rely on the bold writing on the back under the ingredients. I always read the ingredients.
So sorry for this girl ❤
I was told not to eat prepackaged chocolate cake because it may be contaminated with peanuts. There is too much of this today with contamination of foods. Homemade is best and safest.
Sad for this young woman and her family.
И зная о своей заразе не носить лекарство ? Почему они встречное не подают в суд .она намерено убила себя .
We went on a school trip, and this happened to a friend of mine. My best friend gave him a piece of chocolate, from an Italian shop. It was just milk chocolate. He has a nut allergy, and there were no nuts advertised in the chocolate. Things started to going downhill and he started spitting a lot and felt his throat closing up. We had to call the ambulance and they picked him up on the street. Thankfully he survived. Very scary.
RIP 🙏🏻
Probably had a better life than most, r.i.p.
I SEE “NUTS” ON THAT LABEL, WTF Y’ALL TALKING ABOUT? 🤨
Frankly, if "peanuts" was listed as an ingredient AT ALL, then it seems to be incumbent on the consumer to thoroughly and carefully read the ingredients list. When you have a deadly allergy, YOU have to be the one who does their own due diligence. It's definitely helpful to have a big red warning label (and many manufacturers do that), but that's not enough. The ingredients list is supreme. That being did, if the actual ingredients list was MISSING that particular ingredient, then that cookie producer is LIABLE for any damages that follow.
Typical usa, close to no regulations 😅
Rough. ❤
Lawsuit
My friend passed away from the same thing a few months ago he was only 36 years old 🩷
I say blame the vaccines she received as a child that gave her the nut allergy in the first place. Nut adjuvants in vaccines can CAUSE severe allergies.
Bro I can see the the peanuts on the cookies.
Anyway, I'm with Bill Burr on this one.
…👍🏾🙏👍🏾✨✨✨MY GREATEST BREAKING HEART ARE GOING OUT TO HER AS MAY HER REST IN AMAZINGLY MIRACULOUS TOUCHABLE PEACE BE LOVINGLY PEACE AS SHE ARE✨✨✨👍🏾🙏👍🏾…
🙏💞🌎🌫🙏
Anaphylaxis is no joke.
Simple mistake can cost lives
I was just in the er from shellfish. 😭 Poor child
If you're deathly allergic to nuts or literally anything. Why eat anything you didn't make at all. It's not worth the risk.
I wouldn’t advise anybody with severe allergies to eat anything prepackaged. I have no allergies and I still don’t buy that garbage. But it’s not just that manufacturers fault, it’s this society we live in where life isn’t valued. Europeans have much better consumer protection, they can’t even buy American dairy and meat products… It’s a whole societal change that needs to happen. Wont work going piece meal….
This girl died a horrible, horrible death. It doesn't even almost make up for it but I hope there's some sort of justice and I hope that the family is compensated, too. I've spent more than two decades in nursing and have dealt with plenty of anaphylactic patients and a great deal of the time, they owned an EpiPen, they used it, and no change came of it. Unfortunately, the shelf life on them is incredibly short and a lot of people don't realize they've expired. If you or anyone you know is highly allergic to anything that requires that an EpiPen be carried, PLEASE check those dates or else the pen may end up being completely useless in a situation that is literally a matter of life and death. I know it sucks having those things go to waste and ultimately having to replace them, but it's just an unfortunate part of having a serious allergy and there's no way around it.
Half the employees at Stew Leonard's can't speak English, they can't understand English
I hear the lawyers
If a single peanut can fucking kill you, you should not ever eat anything out
😮
You have to assume that manufacturers and suppliers are always looking to cut costs. Even in restaurants, something like extra virgin olive oil in a bottle can be mislabeled.
I honestly don’t think I would eat processed food if I had a peanut allergy. Our food supply has never been as unsafe as it is right now. It’s terrifying.
