The U.N. has released its World Population Prospects 2022, which says that the global population is projected to reach 8 million by November 2022. The report also says that India is projected to surpass China as the world’s most populous country by 2023.

Cause for celebration? Why? Take the availability of resources out of the equation. Forget about climate change or any of the other problems we face. Pretend everything else is hunky-dory. Why is it good that 8 billion of us are on this planet? Feels crowded. I went from growing up in a city of 1.5 million, to a city of 100,000, to a city of less than 5,000… and it still feels over-crowded.
Guess we need more natural disasters or something to lower the population count, we’re already putting a strain on our planet Earth currently.
