Wrongfully convicted man spent 28 years in jail due to outdated Missouri law

Lamar Johnson spent the last 28 years in prison for a murder that he didn’t commit, despite two other people confessing to the crime, due to a Missouri law that only allowed motions for new trials within fifteen days of conviction. NBC News’ Hallie Jackson spoke with Lamar who has been freed because of the state trying to right past wrongs.

  1. Ewwww the south 🤮🤮

  2. Tells you how incompetent Republican Missouri detectives and prosecutors for putting the wrong man in the first place

  3. What a beautiful human being! A hero, a role model for us all. I hope someone worthy provides him with an opportunity to pass his wisdom and resilience on to others negotiating this failed system.

  4. 👍👍👍👍. I've been quite unsure about investing in this current market and at the same time I feel it's the best time to get started on the market. i was at a seminar and the host spoke about making over $972,000 within 3 Months with a capital of $200,000. i need to know how to go about it.

  5. Its amazing how people see a black person and think they should be handed money. Idgaf if he was "wrongfully convicted" means absolutely nothing to me since i didnt see the trial 28 years ago. Anyone even being brought in as a suspect is some level of guilty. Man has fantastic teeth for 28 years in. Dental must be nice in jail. 3 squares. A room. No worries about real life. Came out with a smile.

  6. All the wrongfully convicted, in there right now…

  7. What a backwards, hillbilly state. Embarrassment to the union. Motion for a new trial within 15 days of a conviction… Should be deemed unconstitutional.

  8. How can the state admit they were wrong and then not be responsible for restitution!? If this man is innocent and there is no dispute to that fact how is the government not responsible for the losses both he and his family have suffered? This outrageous, just crazy! We need to set up a go fund me for this man to be able to retire and spend whatever time he has left with his family. I’m more than happy to help the situation if the government gets away with this outrage.

  9. They owe him a settlement that will support him for the rest of his life plus some. He needs to sue and change the system so he can get proper restitution. This is so immensely messed up.

*When I say he, I mean someone representing him. He deserves to never work for another day in his life for anything.

  10. But Trump & the insurrectionists remain free……..only in USA

  11. I hate that they won't give him restitution! He deserves a million bucks per year spent in prison!

  12. Misery is such a corrupt and backwards state. Hilarious that this went unchecked for 30 years. You guys are stuck in the Stone Age

  13. What a beautiful man! This outdated law needs to change now!

  14. before i watched this i imagine he was black

  15. amazing man someone should start a gofundme for him

  16. Unimaginable. It’s sad to think about it. Hope he has a wonderful life.

  17. The State of Missouri needs to correct that as well. Wrongfully convicted innocent people should be given some sort of RESTITUTION. Free housing, educational opportunities, transportation passes…

  18. That’s just sad & horrible. So glad he is out. Good luck 🍀

  19. I'm so happy for him❤❤❤❤💯

  20. 28 Million Dollars for him
