  1. I thought Los Angeles had rent control because my building I’ve been here 7 years And the rent goes up 30 $40 a year

  2. A lot of these places are being gentrified

  3. Landlords are screwed in CA as well. I am sorry, but you need to leave LA if you can’t afford it. I know because We decided to leave

  4. As long as landlord have to pay the property tax of current housing prices they deserve to be paid fair market value

  5. Why are they raising the rent..why

  6. Move away and there's other place edible

  7. I work for minimum wage and have always struggled to get by so forgive me for being indifferent in 2022.

  8. This is the new America.

  9. Notice the landlord wants them to get section 8 which is taxpayers subsidized! So these greedy landlords want to over charge and make taxpayers pay the increase while taxpayers are already squeezed themselves! We should have national rent control and low income people need to stay in their countries we have enough struggling here already. They used more they they will ever contribute!

  10. I know LA can offer a lot of varieties. My advice is move to different state with a lower cost of living rather than priced out in a state where everything seems so impossible to have.

  11. There is nothing you can do except move. Affordable rent is not a right. Move out of state and live elsewhere. Sorry but "community" means nothing when it comes to money. Money is ALWAYS more important and renters need to know that unless you own a home you are at the mercy of the market. Rent strike? Kick them out!

  12. This is an advanced country where everyone in the world wants to live. Not a charity.

  13. Some people say we should change zoning laws in order to have higher density housing. What those guys don’t realize is that housing is tied to your school district. We just don’t have enough schools and teachers to absorb more people per unit area.

  14. GREED is the poison killing the planet.

  15. The market dictates the rent, not landlords! It’s the market. Ask yourself WHY the market is doing this. What is the reason? Increased demand obviously…WHERE is the demand coming from? This is ECONOMICS 101.

  16. STOP BLAMING THE LANDLORDS!!!!!!!! Blame it on the CDC and the eviction moratorium and the government. They are the ones who set up laws the ALLOWS DEADBEAT TENANTS TO CHEAT LANDLORDS. Now us landlord's need to make up lost rental income. STOP BLAIMING US.

  17. After seeing the goverment force landlords to house people and Covid payments just blown instead of even trying to pay rent , would never be a landlord. Not to say my last apartment managers weren't jerks and I wasn't happy to leave. At the end of the day rental space is just that.

  18. Keep voting Democrat, call Gavin newsom, let's see how much he cares.🤣

  19. They could Grow Weed and Sell it like College Students

  20. Did mortgage rates go up?

  21. There is absolutely no good reason for rent to be that high. Minimum wage would have to be over $12 hr just to cover rent.

  22. Oh ohpaleeese these immigrants comming over here getting section 8 while all of of tax paying americans cant get squat i hope the get put the heck out

  23. That's what I say say boycotting

  24. RENT CONTROL in every major city in America! Fight back against the bad guys – landlords and predatory businessmen. Health care, prescription drugs, rent, the real estate mafia businessman are the cause of the problem. Organize and use government to punish these creeps.

  25. MY FINANCIAL GOAL IS TO BE MAKING AT LEAST UP TO $1,000,000 EVERY YEAR BY INVESTING HEAVILY BOTH IN CRYPTO AND STOCK. I NEED GUIDIANCE. please comment below

  26. Ik where that apartment is!!! I was given a tour there last year when I was looking for rent & the rent was expensive!! & the lady had told us that that’s with the pandemic discount, after the pandemic it’ll rise back to its normal price! I said no & left.

  27. Oh yeah, cheer on the government as they seize people's private property.

The city had enacted rent control laws so that the landlord was forced to rent for much less than the current value. That recently came to an end and the owner is trying to get fair market value for the apartment (after years and years of waiting) and now the government's just going to take it from him. Oh, and you don't end up getting a good price with eminent domain either.

Go ahead and think it's cool, maybe one day the tables will turn and it will be you, and then you'll see things differently.

  28. Landlords know you got few choices and are taking advantage of the situation. They don't have to raise prices at all.

  29. I cannot imagine a person renting for 26 years

  30. I guess a bunch of renters could get together and buy a building from the landlord and then they could become the landlord and see how expensive repairs and taxes might be

  31. This is absurd…..housing isn’t an investment opportunity,it’s a basic need.

  32. Burn baby burn disco inferno

  33. So move. Its no more unfair that people who can't afford to move into a expensive neighborhood. There are plenty of smaller cities where rents actually went down. How many families are being forced to moved to get a job. Quit using taxpayer money to pay for people to live above their means.

  34. And? And? The solution?? All we hear is talk talk talk and no solutions.

  35. I always hear ppl complaining about this types of issues but at the same time it looks they never change their voting habits to try making a change.

  36. So let me get this straight. The building owner agreed be super nice and reduce rent rates for a period of over 10 years. Now that the time period is over and rents go back to market price, the tenants want to force him to continue to give reduced rent rates. Doesn't that seem a little stupid? Why does the landlord have to be forced into continuing to reduce rent?

The point of friction is that the original rent reduction program was written by dumb monkeys. In this stupid program, rents go from the reduced rent and jump all the way up to market price, over a 100% increase. What they SHOULD have done is GRADUALLY increase the rent up to market price so that the renters don't get completely screwed/blindsided. MOREOVER, management should have let the tenants know many months in advance of such a large increase.

TLDR: A long time ago a building owner was super nice and reduced rents for a long time. Now that the owner wants bring prices back to normal, the beneficiaries of the reduced rents want to force the owner to continue to reduce rents.

  37. The video description doesn’t make sense. “Renters being priced out of their homes”Renters don’t have homes…This is all supply and demand. Force the local/state governments to relax on permits to build apartments/homes. Government is to blame not the Landlords.

  38. You’ve been paying cheap rent for so many years while the rest of us were working our butt off to pay for higher rents.
And you are asking the City to buy the property and give you free rent with MY TAX MONEY?
What the eff is going on?

  39. Instead of trying to stay in LA these seniors should save their money and buy a cheap condo in a cheaper state. I bought a small mobile home and lot in another state when I was 63 and its the best decision I ever made.

  40. People are still using mask?

  41. Sick of greedy landlords I think it's disgusting I understand that property taxes are going up and things to maintain their property are going up but you don't have to price out people like that that's a bit much seems to me that landlord is just being greedy because he knows he can raise the rent and get away with it because those that can't afford to pay it he can kick out and then find people that will pay for it because they're stupid

  42. Thats greed. Greedy people that only care of getting rich. And not careing for those renters on fixed income.

  43. Armenian Seniors get rent help!!!

  44. Leave commie California its too expensive!!

  45. Biden inflation HERE!!!!

  46. Thank goodness Gil Cedillo got voted out, he sold out the working class

  47. Now's the time to show your face, Gavin Newsom.

  48. for all those that can't afford housing in high living location. Consider moving to another city.
