Thousands of cities and roughly two dozen states have signed a deal that would have opioid giant Purdue Pharmaceuticals paying up to $12 billion, but almost half the states are now arguing the deal doesn’t go far enough to hold Purdue or the Sackler family — one of the nation’s richest — fully responsible for the thousands of deaths linked to the opioid crisis.
