NBC News’ Dr. John Torres got exclusive access to the top-secret facility. A group of federal agencies is responsible for deciding what goes into the stockpile. But now, a report from the National Academy of Sciences is calling for more transparent oversight.

I’m curious how often they refresh these stockpiles. Like every decade or two do they send stuff out to be used and replace with new items or do they just sit there for whenever it’s needed and the world will hope it’s efficacy has been maintained?
