Kindergarten teacher sends student note nearly 30 years later



Most of us will never forget our first kindergarten teacher.

And sometimes… they remember us too.

“When I first saw him, I could hardly believe it,” said Lorly Schik about a little boy who walked into her classroom nearly 30 years ago, a boy who was grown up when she turned on KARE 11 Sunrise last spring and recognized him.

“I can still picture him as a small dark-haired child in his K-desk!”

  1. I remember my 5th grade teacher most. Everyone would ask for help so the teacher could bend down and g string would come out and stay. It was a guy lol.

  10. My kindergarten teacher's name was Mrs. Millrood. I last saw her when I was 16 years old. She's still living, though. Before Daddy had a stroke, he drove me and my other little brothers to pick up my little brother Isaiah from his school. When we were waiting for him to be done, I saw Mrs. Millrood. She came over to me and talked to me. She was very happy to see me. I was very happy to see her, too. She is 69 years old as of today. She is 10 years older than Daddy. When she saw me, she told me that I look the same the first time she saw me, but so much taller.

  13. The canteen lady from my kindergarden died two years ago . We didn’t talk much but she was nice . I actually cried when I found out ;-;

  14. Being a teacher is the best job. I taught 5 year olds and each and everyone is special to me. I've had a lot of my children friend me on Facebook and they send such lovely messages saying things like you were the best teacher I've ever had. It warms my heart.

  15. All of my elementary teachers were awesome. I almost attended a different elementary school each year, sometimes more than one each year. Living with my dad was tumultuous, my teachers in elementary school were some of the nicest people I've ever met. They really do make a difference at that age.

  18. I remember seeing my kindergarten teacher at 19 at an open house so my 4 year old sister could meet her kindergarten teacher and she still remembered me.

  19. That was very sweet. I remember my kindergarten teacher. Her name was Miss Linda. I don't know her last name or if she even married. I believe she was quite young at the time, probably in her 20s. White lady with dark hair. This was in Belle Chasse, Louisiana around 1974/75. She gave us kids a little New Testament bible on our graduation. We all loved Miss Linda. Hope she is doing well these days.
