Firefighters and local residents in Portugal are battling several wildfires sparked by a heat wave that could see temperatures exceed 115 degrees. Authorities say the wildfires are linked to climate change, stressing that heat waves are becoming more and more frequent across Europe.

Really hilarious, NBC, that no one is talking about how the Eucalyptus plantations in Portugal have critically damaged the eco system, funded by the EU for 40 years, has created a monoculture that dried the soil and atmosphere.
Portugal is a naturally humid country with Atlantic weather – but some large areas have created a monocultural agro desert that encourage fire, as well as the tree themselves, that are part of a family of Eucalyptus that are well known to have a fire ecology – why do you not get people to talk about that ?
