CA could obtain surplus M113, M548 and M577 tracked personnel carriers free from Uncle Sam if vehicles which can drive THROUGH these fires are wanted. European wildland firefighters and some US firefighters use them effectively as tracked (because wheeled apparatus is delicate, flammable and cannot go cross-country in rough terrain.
Aberdeen Proving Ground developed tracked firefighting conversions (quite simple and similar to brush trucks) to fight fires on artillery ranges and Russia converted surplus tracked AFVs for their rather large wildland fires.
I mention this now and then because apparently Americans don't know they have better rescue vehicle options not vulnerable to burnover like wheeled trucks but despite enormous fires there is little interest. M113 FOV have VERY simple drivetrains and the hulls lend themselves to future hybrid conversions. (BEV was done many years ago before battery tech matured.) The US has thousands of earlier A2 models which are not uparmored making them lightweight. The US military uses the A4 versions on active duty.

M113 are free to acquire (send a flatbed and get two at once) but oddly law enforcement have been the biggest takers (squad cars don't stop bullets) despite their ability to deliver, support and protect firefighters who can take safe refuge under armor. I'm not selling anything and have zero economic interest in the conversions but learnt about them doing military work. They can tow water bowsers (also available milsurp), extricate stuck wheeled trucks, and bulldozer blade kits are easy to install (also a miltiary item).

M113 and M577 fully protect their crews and can be delivered quickly by flatbed, Landoll and similar trailers or fitted with Canadian Soucy band tracks then driven on any road without risk to pavement. Too bad they won't get used in CA as they probably look too "military" but the price is unbeatable, parts are available worldwide and many countries have a surplus of them as they're the most versatile post-WWII US armored vehicle.

Excuse me mr narrator, it is pronounced "Klamath = Clam-ath, not claim-ith" I grew up in Ashland spending a lot of time in the hilss and mountain ;lakes from Weed Ca. to Klamath and Keno Bend Hilt Yreka etc and it has been a tinder box for a long time the summers with all the pines and such and so much scrub oaks and madrone there just isnt much chance of getting any control of this I'm afraid. May GOD watch over all who live in the area. It was so recent all of the firest that nearly wiped out Phoneix and Talent Oregon, and so many of the outlying communities like Blue Ridge who are still recovering from those fires, really so terrible.

HEY! CONSERVE WATER! REMEMBER? I see more firefighters looking at the fire and few actually putting water on the fires. Dont they get it by now, that every year theres going to be big fires.
