A question I have heard they are talking about diverting water from the Midwest to refill western reservoirs . If this is to be it should be used wisely not foolishly by generating hydroelectricity. A example of wise use is to Grow crops and for people to drink for laundry and flush toilets industrial use but not power generation. And diverted only at high water times .

Does lake Mead produce hydroelectric power and if it does wouldn't it be prudent to quit that if lake water levels are low and maybe long before then.

Just to put into perspective for people, they built a lake in a desert, to supply water and electric for a few cities in the 30's that at that time were in the low millions, to now, that same lake, during a dry period is expected to supply water and electric to those same cities that have grown expedientially by millions and suddenly people are shocked?
Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what was coming,
how about building desalination plants in LA to begin with, oh I know why, because the same environmental people that are freaking out about lake Mead are the same people that don't want those,
