New Revolution In The Construction Industry? Skyscrapers Made Of Wood

Builders are increasingly turning away from concrete and steel in favor of wood. In some cases, the material – known as mass timber – is even being used to construct skyscrapers. It’s becoming a sort of revolution: a 2021 study in the journal Sustainability found that mass timber buildings could reduce a building’s carbon emissions 22 to 50 percent compared to concrete. However, environmentalists worry about the cutting of primary and older forests, which would substitute one type of high carbon building material for another.

  1. 20年前にムトウハップで狂牛病が治りますとイギリス領事館にお伝えしたらロールス・ロイスに乗った奴に尾行された。

  2. Trailer homes and modular homes have been built from wood and glue for a hundred years.
Fire and the heat causes the glues to break down and the 'wood to split' allowing for more
surfaces with more vapors to ignite. From seeing how fast a trailer goes up in flames I can't
imagine why anyone would think this is a good idea. I took one fire investigation class and
this sounds like a disaster in the making. With the world's temperature rising and seeing all
the forest fires breaking out around the world who are the people still investing money into
    this foolish project?

  3. hope this building have fire Resistance.

  4. Well there goes the forests.

  5. A Mud Hut with a Thatch roof
    Would be GREENER !!!

  6. I'm sure this is a lot cheaper than concrete, that's why they're using it

  7. Great idea! …Hopefully it won't require too many trees. Also…How will they keep this timber resistant to fire??

  8. I have a bad feeling about this…

  9. Wood is a renewable resource. Concrete is not.

  10. The question I have for the builder would be, Is your personal residence or residences made of this material?

  11. Many disadvantages like its fire hazard and will warp and rot eventually

  12. Every Thermite's dream

  13. ok got it the future is one home in the building has fire, everyone in the building goes homeless and propertless. one can only imgaine the delicious home insurance premium of this kind of building can offer.

  14. reduces carbon emission, but also reduces carbon absorbing trees…
why are we never able to find a solution that doesn't contradict itself?

  15. Bottom line here is: When traveling abroad just behave yourself don't do anything stupid. Tell everybody you're a Canadian you'll be LOVED!

  16. Have you been to a lumberyard, or just go to any zipcode home improvement store. Lazy

  17. How about those Austrians that guess what? They shaved Roumanian Carpathian Mountain…. No mercy for the secular forest no shame ….

  18. NICE…all that needs to happen is a fire and the tenants are history.

  19. Location of the building, 101 ways to die drive…

  20. What a horrible idea, using wood instead of concrete and steel because of culture change and inflation, hello who put sanctions on Ukraine yes we did, inflation was created by the United States printing too much money shutting off oil pipelines, open borders etc, the United States is only making these worse than better. So what cutting down trees to build high raise buildings, again horrible idea

  21. Um… they do realize wood burns… like really really well.

  22. Wood releases co2 when it slowly decomposes.

Why are they lying saying it absorbs co2?

  23. So destroy the Amazon Rainforest faster. LOL.

  24. Termites like this. 👍

  25. There's an old movie called "The Towering Inferno" … be sure to watch it before buying a unit in a wooden skyscraper.

  26. Bad idea. Trees emitt oxygen for our atmosphere, chop all of them down, goodbye earth.

  27. Good news for the forest
