Surprised airplanes aren't built with parachutes yet
@ABC News — Crappy reportage. No USEFUL data in this bit of fear-mongering emotionalism. Make, model, year and hours since last overhaul on the engine ?
STOP DUMBING-DOWN AMERICA !!
As someone who build's planes for a living, I can assure you that in the event of a engine fire like that, you have little to worry about. Modern aircraft are designed so that they can fly with only one engine running if the other one fails. The pilots will automatically get an alert in the cockpit if an engine isn't running optimally or in the event of an engine fire, but its good to let the crew know either way if you see flames.
Oh we are landing in Ohio? Yeah, im good. Let the plane crash…
most new airplanes can still fly with just one engine …………………………
Maybe the airlines are competing with the rail lines on who can do less maintenance. Sounds like a job for DoT, lol that is No Show pete !
There used to be a clever sayin BYOB, now with pete its BYOFE ( Bring Your Own Fire Ext )
Abolish Department of Transportation. We need to improve transportation safety and DOT stands in the way.
Every time the YT algo sends me an ABC news vid, I'll downvote it.
get ABC to start a ban flying campaign.

And I'm supposed to be on an AA flight on Fri π
Nope.
There hasn't been a spike in air traffic incidents at all! We should def do 1 pilot. I feel bad that the airlines have to pay an extra salary when it could be used for stock buy-backs instead. I'm willing to crash for that.
I wonder what that smell like?
Bad weekend for AA. I don't understand how the wing doesn't ignite in these situations since the fuel tanks are right there.
God saves you allππ»
Never been on a plane and I donβt ever want to ride one I only ever hear about horrible experiences with planes but these are happening a lot more often
i've reduced the chances of me dying in an air crash…i quit getting on planes…
It can fly on one engine… youll be fine…
lol, people crying etc, glad everyone who was on the ground or onboard gets their 12 seconds of fame.
"Flames are not normal"? The ingestion of the bird appeared to cause what is literally called a "FLAME out".
