Unbelievable that people shut their brain off. It was a failure not icing on the cake :-). They had to blow it up because there was no second stage and the rocket was falling erratically to earth.
This is a terrible headline; how about recognize the fact that it was a test flight and it's the most powerful rocket ever built???
Losing hundreds of billions for nothing?!
There is no life in Mars or in other plants rather then in earth is it hard to understand?!
Its better to spend those money to save earth planet.
A very expen$ive fireworks display.
It's frustrating I've strolled through four sites on YouTube and they all show the same SpaceX launch video.
Bro who thought making the natural disasters rocket was a great idea
Another tax write off
Perhaps the steering wheel fell off.
"After clearing the tower, everything was icing on the cake..".KABOOOOOM! Pffffftttt!
NBC get your facts straight. It was never meant to make orbit.
It's was awesome none the less… The only reason it probably didn't work was because the launchpad was destroyed 😂😂😂… "raining concrete"
This doesn't seem like a regular launch per say – can someone fill me in?

Really looking forward for SpaceXX, then SpaceXXX doing the same thing
..NBC NEWS? 👨🏻💼 THANK!! YOU! FOR SHARING! RELIABLE INTEL INFORMATION! 🖥 REGARDING AND PERTAINING TO; "SpaceX Starship trooper explodes after failing to reach orbit!".. 🌐 .. furthermore, Elon Musk is a man of vision! 👁 and I share his vision! 👁 perhaps more TESTS! needed to be done! before launching! Starship Trooper! 🚀 because I remember when SpaceX in 2016! Just their first reusable starlink retrievable Rockets back on solid earth ground! 🌎 it took a trial-and-error and lots of testing procedures to get starlink reusable Rockets! 🚀 to safely return back to Earth! 🌎 the same could be said about Starship Trooper! 🚀 trial and error and lots of testing! is needed and required in order to achieve success! and getting us to plant the FIRST AMERICAN FLAG! 🇺🇲 ON MARS! 🔴👈🧐
NBC News dislikes elon musk. Nothing about this was a failure
Ozone vaporised! Well done everyone what an amazing success 😂😂😂😂
Sad when these huge media companies can’t get their facts straight, if you were paying attention you would have seen that they were trying a barrel roll in mid air to separate.
Oye Elon…
Y el cambio climático que tanto pregonas dónde queda…
I'm really amazed at the magnitude of what Elon Musk is expressing here. My own male insecurities are much smaller by comparison.
Just ruining the great place we call south Padre island. Hate it if one one of them pieces fell on my house.
Humankind has been launching rockets At Least since Robert Goddard's in 1926; we should no longer have explosions of this magnitude. That waste was the equivalent of a lot of school lunches for a lot of hungry kids. I know Elon and Co. probably could calculate that it would explode but let it explode without using so much fuel and material.
This headline is why I don't care for the mainstream news anymore. Failure was EXPECTED by SpaceX and the whole rocket community. Its a stepping stone for data. Its literally a test launch. But here the news is again misleading the public.
They said this was a success. For me I think it was NOT! Just my opinion and why spend countless millions of dollars to watch something explode then say we can build another one. They say you gotta look good even if you ugly!
Elon I can build a rocket 🚀 for a billion 🤑😁
Happy 420 everyone! Awesome.
Blackc*ck Down
Reminder that this is a prototyple test flight and the purpose of this launch was to achieve lift off even if it meant it blowing up mins later, but they had hoped it could get to orbit. They will gather the data collected and will make improvments for the prototype. next launch should be a in few months with the changes and improvements. Eventually it will be reliable as falcon 9 and Falcon 9 heavy.
Bro half the people in the comments dont even know what is going on in the video, but insist on giving their half thought-out opinion 💀
We can send a man to the moon but we can't build a rocket that doesn't explode.
So many fanbois who won't believe their lying eyes.
SpaceX has longstanding solvency issues this abject failure could be hard to recover from.
Why do you always have to be negative? It was an achievement it was even able to get off the launch pad
The announcer said this is the exciting end we promised you. Nice try. How many billions just blew up?
The prerecorded applause-track was kind of loud.
Hope the debris land in Elon head..
It blew up just like Twitter did…..😂😂😂😂
The valuable data recovered after the RUD is the real icing on the cake.
Failure. Many rocket companies failed in test flights, SpaceX just wants to gaslight for no reason. It’s not like admitting it failed would hurt them.
*After successfully lifting off.
Fixed your title. Or just say it exploded. But to say “after failing to reach orbit,” you’re intentionally framing this as a failure when the scientific community is pretty much in agreement that this was a success. Terrible news
Not manned I hope.
Shameless Americans!! Successful blow it up!!!
That'll show Bezo
You should probably fix the title by saying “test rocket” that was impressive enough to leave the launch pad.
Of course you would call it a fail. Losers.
This is a MAGNIFICENT WIN!!!!!
American women are the most beautiful in the world! I love USA!
